How to find out what model iPhone you have

Currently there are three different models of iPhone in circulation, being the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the new iPhone 3GS. The best way to distinguish which iPhone you have is to check the iPhones rear casing.

iPhone Original

The iPhone original comes in 16GB, 8 GB or 4 GB varieties, and is easily recognised by the silver metal back. This is Apples first mobile phone and is similar in size to the iPod Touch. The iPhone original features similar functionalities to iPod Touch, however it also includes phone connectivity. The iPhone includes a built in 2 megapixel camera, a multi-touch screen, real internet Wi-Fi, and many other functions.


iPhone 3G

The iPhone 3G has GREY text on the rear case.

The iPhone 3G comes in 8GB and 16GB varieties and is recognisable by its sleek curved back, either in white or black. This is Apple's second mobile phone and is similar to the original iPhone in size and features, however the iPhone 3G also includes fast 3G wireless technology, Maps with GPS, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange and the new App Store.

 

iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3GS has SILVER text on the rear case.

The iPhone 3GS comes in 16GB and 32GB varieties and looks incredibly similar to the iPhone 3G, however, Apple have made some improvements to the iPhones hardware. The iPhone 3GS has a faster processor than its predecessor, a 3 megapixel video camera and an inbuilt compass.
